Dynamite is setting off the fireworks this summer with a trio of collectible variant covers for the Fourth of July. Diverse, international creators collaborated on these covers that celebrate the American-born medium.

Pinup model Bettie Page appears on a cover with a background of apple pies, showing off her status as a symbol of beauty and femininity. Italian artist Vincenzo Federici pencils, inks, and colors the cover.

“This cover was very natural, considering that I’m on the series, so it was a blast,” Vincenzo Federici said. “Apple pies! I tried something sexy and pop, using an ecchi style background to keep everything fun, inspired by some Japanese illustrators I love.”

Red Sonja appears in front of the Washington Monument, flag in hand, surrounded by fireworks. This cover was provided by Italian artist Alessandro Miracolo created the artwork with Irish colorist and series regular Ellie Wright providing the colors.

“I love Red Sonja. I grew up with the stories of Robert E. Howard,” Miracolo said. “I really had a great time designing this cover, thinking of how I could depict Sonja like a champion that leads the American people to victory. Happy Independence Day to everyone. Ciao!”

Vampirella’s cover shows her wearing an Uncle Sam-style hat, astride a giant explosive with fireworks in the sky. American artist Justin Mason created the cover with colors by Kike J. Diaz.

“When I was offered an Independence day variant cover I only had a limited time to come up with an idea,” artist Justin Mason said. “I’ll be honest I never expected my first Vampirella cover to start with a bang! Big thanks to editor Nate Cosby and Dynamite for the opportunity!”

All of these covers are solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ June Previews for July and August on sale. Fans are encouraged to preorder copies with their local comic shops.
