Magnetic Press Play, the new tabletop game imprint from Magnetic Press, has launched a Kickstarter for Carbon Grey, their first tabletop roleplaying game. It puts players in a time similar to Europe during World War I – except with diesel punk technology and paranormal elements.

“We’re opening the double doors on a huge new world today,” Magnetic Press Play founder and Publisher Mike Kennedy said. “Not just another addition to our library of thrilling graphic novels but the first open-world, interactive roleplaying universe based on our new Magnetic Variant of the tried-and-true D6 System. Gamers will have a blast exploring this unique new environment together while fans of fantastic narrative will be swept away by the sprawling fiction underneath it all in both the Core Rule Book and the new collected Omnibus hardcover. We’re excited for everyone to get lost in the wonders of Mitteleuropa.”

The game has two configurations, starting with a 224-page standalone hardcover core rule book. The other is a complete boxed edition that adds 21 plastic miniatures, 140 character and item cards, a three-panel GM screen, 12 custom D6 dice, a large two-sided battle map, and map-modifying markers and tokens.

Backers can get the complete, over 300-page Carbon Grey omnibus in hardcover that collects the original comic series. It is remastered and reedited to fit the redefined game world. Add-ons also include additional minis, dice, other gameplay items, and more merchandise.

The Kickstarter campaign is open now through September 3, 2021.
