Grab the pea soup! The Exorcist reboot has cast young newcomer Olivia Marcum.

She will join Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, and Lidya Jewett in the film. Original Exorcist star Ellen Burstyn is reprising her role as Chris MacNeil, the mother of possession victim, Regan.

Marcum recently starred in a West Coast stage production of Matilda the Musical. This will be her first big screen role.

The movie is a Blumhouse, Universal, Peacock, and Morgan Creek project that is expected to be the first of a trilogy, releasing on October 13, 2023. David Gordon Green, who directed the recent Halloween trilogy, is set to direct. Scott Teems and Danny McBride (Halloween Kills) teamed with Green on the story, which is being written by Peter Sattler (Broken Diamonds) and Green.

Adapted from the novel by William Peter Blatty, the original Exorcist was released in 1973. Considered one of the greatest horror movies of all time, it saw a global box office of $441 million and was nominated for ten Academy Awards.
