Quantcast

Published beginning in December 1974 by Seaboard Periodicals as part of their Atlas line, Movie Monsters was a black and white, magazine format (8” x 10-3/4”) publication devoted to television and movie sci-fi and monsters, and it was very much in the style of Warren’s Famous Monsters of Filmland. It utilized movie stills and studio photos to illustrate this look at horror, space operas, and other genre productions.

The classics and not-so-classics of the respective genres were given the spotlight, including Planet of the Apes, Dracula, Doc Savage, Godzilla, Flash Gordon, Batman, The Thing, The Wolfman and many others. Atlas’s Jeff Rovin, a veteran of Warren, served as Editor, and the covers were by Greg Theakston (#1 and #2), George Torjussen (#3 and #4).

The final issue was dated August 1975.
