It’s a busy night in Sunnydale with the teenagers dancing at the Halloween party and the adults enjoying an exhibit opening at the gallery where Joyce works. It’s fun until Giles notices a cataclysmically dangerous weapon at the exhibit – which also captures the attention of some fang-bearing residents.

Buffy #8 by Jordie Bellaire serves as a prelude to the Hellmouth crossover event which will be featured in Buffy and Angel comics as well as the Hellmouth miniseries. It sets up the event in a big way with a few shocking moments, but also a few subtle suggestions – like the mysterious guy who offers Buffy some advice or what is said to Giles about Jenny.

It’s a good prelude to the Hellmouth crossover and forecasts that something major is about to happen.
