Elvira was kidnapped by the Deucalionids who want her “Lucifieran Energy.” They plan to use a besom, an actual witch’s broom, to take her energy and do some very naughty things with it. Thankfully, as Elvira is overwhelmed by creepy Deucalionids she gets some assistance by a large masked figure. Of course, they are still stuck in a hospital run by a cult.

This issue by David Avallone, artist Dave Acosta, and colorist Walter Pereyra takes Elvira from horror-comedy to superhero action. There are ominous shadows, magic, bullets, and big muscles flying through the air. Elvira’s mojo gets messed with on a large scale and the Mistress of the Dark is not happy about it – though she still manages to sneak in a few jokes.

This arc is more action heavy than the last one while retaining the feel of Elvira comics. Given her current state, it should make for an entertaining conflict with the Deucalionids in the next issue.
