Vox Supreme has tasked Carol with killing all of the core Avengers, and she only has a day left to get it done – and five more people on her list. But we now know the reason why she’s killing the Avengers (or at least making it look like she’s killed the Avengers). Vox Supreme has taken numerous innocents hostage and is using his control over Carol to essentially do the same to her; if she doesn’t show that she’s killed her teammates, countless will die.
The previous issue came as a bit of a shock in terms of what Carol was suddenly up to, especially following her reacceptance by the public in the previous arc. But this month’s book does a lot to clarify the situation, which is good. The action is dynamic and fluid and the writing in this issue goes a long way to establish what’s going on and make things less of a heel turn than we may have originally thought. It’s bound to be a solid read as this arc continues and Carol has to balance her villain act with the good she’s trying to do in the meantime.
