Well, the Deucalionids were able to use Elvira’s Luciferian energy to summon a demon and if being stuck inside a medieval-themed dinner theater with cultist weirdos wasn’t enough, Elvira is facing Vlad...again. So now Elvira is not only trying to get her Luciferian energy back, she and Soul Survivor have to save the idiots who summoned Vlad from becoming vampire-demon lunchtime.
In the bad news/good news department, this was the last issue of Elvira Mistress of the Darkness. But, as writer David Avallone and artist Dave Acosta inform us in the book, she isn’t done in comics, just this title. Avallone and Acosta, with colorist Walter Pereyra, did a great job on this title. It was steadily good throughout the 12-issue run. The arcs were all entertaining, each issue had doses of Elvira’s cheeky humor, puns, and pop culture references. Tons of creativity was put into the art with lots of panel variety, great renderings of Elvira, and comedic designs that matched the writing.
If this team is leading a new Elvira series, it’ll likely be a good one.
