Angel has been retitled as Angel & Spike, but follows the same storyline established in previous issues. A new arc begins here with some wrap up from the last – namely Angel returning to give Spike a hard time about what happened while he was gone. The new material begins with Detective Kate Lockley, who was a regular on the TV show during the early seasons, being introduced to the magical world by a creepy hypnotic monster.

An Angel and Spike title is intriguing, considering the history they share, how they annoy each other, and how they ultimately share similarities – which they hate. Adding in Gunn and Fred with her mystery powers, and it’s an interesting mix of moody personalities ready to fight some demons. The overall motif has a noir style, which is really working for the title.
