Ben Percy (Wolverine) and Ramon Rosanas (Star Wars: Age of Resistance) offer their take on a familiar comic book theme, a zombie apocalypse. If you’re going to take on the topic – and full disclosure here, I co-created and write Zombie-Proof and edit Billy Tucci and John Broglias’s Zombie-Sama – you better have something fresh to offer.
In this first issue, it seems like Percy and Rosanas do indeed bring something new to the table: a global take on zombies. We’ve seen in in the movie World War Z, but there is definitely room to grow with this.
Their cast includes folks who they identify as a Japanese hitman, a Mexican street urchin, an Afghan military aide, a Polar research scientist, and a midwestern American survivalist. This introductory issue spends most of its time focused on the characters without quite revealing what’s going on, but then it hits with a punch. It will be very interesting to see where things go, something I’m definitely inclined to do after this one.
