The third act of Walter Simonson’s creator-owned take on Thor, set in the murky world after the fall of the gods, has reached its penultimate issue, and boy, it’s seriously packed with plot and action. While the writer-artist’s run on Marvel’s Thor is a major part of his well-earned reputation, that hasn’t hindered him in anyway from turning his imagination loose on this iteration of Norse mythological character.

Thor and his companion, Ratatosk, have journeyed to the depths of Helheim to ascertain the fate of Hel herself. They find her trapped, but being imprisoned doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a bargain to offer them.

As with every issue of the series so far, this one makes for superb reading and leaves us ready for more.
