In the last issue of Crossover, Ellie and her party met a group of comic characters led by the superhero Madman. They have a way to get through the barrier, and hopefully find Ava’s family, but first they need to accumulate more power for the journey.

The pace slows down in this issue, to present some larger complications facing our heroes and smaller hurdles to keep the adventure moving. Ellie and Otto are obviously enjoying interacting with the characters they’ve been reading for years, and there are several more nods to other characters scattered throughout.
