Allegiance Arts; $3.99

The third issue of Allegiance Arts’ Bass Reeves is every bit as good as the first two. It’s a superb blend of solid pacing, David Williams’ beautiful, stylish art, Gabriel Eltaeb’s lavish colors, and Kevin Grevioux’s great dialogue, and the more people who get to know this story, the more interesting real life history becomes.

The only downside – and this complaint goes across the board for Allegiance Arts other titles as well – the wait between issues is unacceptable. Hiccups are to be expected with new companies, but given the extremely long time between Bass Reeves #2 and #3, readers might have been better served by some recap text.

That said, this is a great comic and it deserves your attention.
