Dynamite; $3.99
In the new issue of DIE!Namite Lives, there’s fighting, insult-trading, gambit-making, and pop culture referencing aplenty. Captain Future has made some bold moves while ignoring the hesitancy of General Fields in what is a big victory, although messy fallout, for humankind. Elsewhere, Jennifer Blood has joined the fight over the Necronomicon, much to the amusement of Ash and annoyance of Vampirella and Pantha.
The situation is a whole lot of chaos in Fred Van Lente’s Dynamite event book – and it’s definitely working. The protagonists are all messy beings that make the story more interesting than if they were cookie cutter heroes. Their biting personalities – literally and figuratively – add some spice to the dialogue and levity to a terrible worldwide threat. Artist Vincenzo Carratù and colorist Kike J. Diaz are giving the book lots of energy with action in nearly every panel.
