While there have been many fan complaints about the wait between issues for this mini-series – and perhaps deservedly so – let’s be clear that the story and art haven’t suffered. TMNT: The Last Ronin, which finally reunited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, has been epic from the start. Ideally the penultimate issue of a mini-series will set the stage for a spectacular conclusion, and this one does precisely that (Of course we’ll have to wait a while to see if #5 delivers on that set-up).

The art in this issue is in several different styles – including parts that are a real throwback to the Turtles’ early days – and each of them really capture the action, of which there is plenty. It really seems like the heart of the mini-series is in this issue. We’ll see if that opinion changes next issue.
