Netflix has acquired the rights to BOOM! Studios’ BRZRKR comic with plans to adapt it as a live-action feature film and then an anime spinoff series. The comic was created by actor Keanu Reeves, who co-writes it with Matt Kindt, featuring art by Ron Garney and colors by Bill Crabtree.

In BRZRKR, a warrior known as B is cursed with immortality and a compunction for brutal violence. He makes a deal with the US government to fight the battles too dangerous for normal soldiers in exchange for their help in discovering the truth about his existence – and how to end it.

Reeves is set to star in and produce the Netflix adaptation and will voice B in the anime series, which will expand on the BRZRKR story. The movie will be executive produced by Adam Yoelin of BOOM!, and produced by Ross Richie and Stephen Christy of BOOM! and Stephen Hamel of Company Film.

The 12-issue limited series launched on March 3, 2021, selling over 615,000 copies of the first issue.
