Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley has been cast in the AMC drama Preacher. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar nominee will appear as Odin Quincannon in a six-episode arc.

The show is based on the 1990s comic series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon on DC’s imprint, Vertigo. It tells the story of Rev. Jesse Custer a Texas preacher who learns that God has left Heaven and given up on his duties. Jesse becomes the only person able to track God down.

Odin is a small, decrepit man, albeit the most powerful man in Annville County, Texas, due to his lack conscience. He is the primary employer in the town, running Quincannon Meat & Power, a family run cattle slaughterhouse business. In the comic he’s also a member of the KKK and often clashes with Jesse.

Preacher is expected to debut over the summer. Dominic Cooper stars as Jesse and Ruth Negga plays Tulip.

In addition to playing Rorschach in Watchmen, Haley also played Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. His film credits also include Little Children, Semi-Pro, All the King’s Men, Shutter Island, Human Target, and Dark Shadows.
