As part of the Marvel NOW! initiative, Marvel has announced that a new Invincible Iron Man #1 is on the way! The series relaunch will follow newcomer Riri Williams, as she suits up in the Iron Man armor. The current writer for Invincible Iron Man, Brian Michael Bendis, will be staying on, joined by artist Stefano Caselli (All-New Inhumans).

Although this series will see Stark passing the mantle to Williams, this doesn't reveal the ending of Civil War II. “I can tell you just because we’re hearing what we’re saying doesn’t mean you know how Civil War II ends. We’re not telling you the end, at all,” Bendis shared.

Riri Williams was originally introduced in Invincible Iron Man #9, as a 15-year-old M.I.T. student who built her own set of Iron Man armor in her dorm. Williams may just give Stark a run for his money. “He’s [Stark] also aware that this young woman is flying by him in terms of how quickly she’s doing it. Her brain is maybe a little better than his. She looks at things from a different perspective that makes the armor unique. He can’t help but go maybe I should buy her out,” Bendis added.

It seems that Williams role in the Marvel landscape post-Civil War II, is only just beginning. Not only is she starring in Invincible Iron Man, but she was also front and center in a Marvel NOW! teaser image.
