Writer-artist Jim Steranko will be the guest of honor at the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention this weekend, April 21-23, 2017, at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center. Steranko is one of the top tier, most celebrated members of the comics community, including work on The Shadow, Doc Savage, Sherlock Holmes, and others. He’ll be there for the whole show, including speaking on Friday at 7 PM.

This year’s event will celebrate the Red Circle line of pulps, the first publications by Martin Goodman, who later launched Timely. The program book is filled with material about Steranko, the Red Circle line, as well as gangster pulps, and more.

The convention will host 150 tables of pulps, vintage paperbacks, comics, original comic and illustration art, and related memorabilia. Movies based on pulps will be shown on Friday and Saturday and the New Pulp movement will host panels on Sunday. On Friday and Saturday nights two estate auctions will be held, with thousands of pulps, including almost 200 issues of The Shadow.

Three-day admission is $35, Friday or Saturday is $25, and Sunday is $10, with kids 13 years old and younger admitted for free.

The con is open Friday 11 AM to 12 AM, Saturday 10 AM to 12 AM, and Sunday 10 AM to 4 PM. The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center is at 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard, IL.
