Syracuse’s Salt City Comic-Con has added Tom Peyer to their guest list. The writer and editor has worked on many major characters in comics with well known stories in Hourman, Legion of Super-Heroes, Batman ’66, Spider-Man, Marvel Apes, Punisher, The Simpsons, and Bart Simpson.

Peyer is a founding editor of DC’s Vertigo imprint and now part of a group working to develop a new line of comics that will be announced later this year. In 2016-2017 he had added the AfterShock Comics series Captain Kid, written with Mark Waid, about a middle-aged man who turns into a teenage superhero.

“Tom Peyer’s a creative and witty writer whose work is always fun and fresh,” said convention organizer Thomas Yeldon. “And as a ‘local boy’ with an impressive body of work, he serves as a great role model for all CNY comic fans.”

“I’ve enjoyed Tom Peyer’s clever writing and unique vision ever since I first saw his work in The Syracuse New Times years ago. In his recent AfterShock series, Captain Kid, Tom not only upends a traditional comic book premise, but he also creates several memorable characters along the way,” said Ed Catto, pop culture expert and marketing executive.

In its fourth year, Syracuse’s Salt City Comic-Con is a pop culture con that will include comics, toys, games, cosplay, and collectibles. It will be held at Oncenter’s War Memorial building in downtown Syracuse on June 24-25, 2017. Presale tickets can be purchased at Syracusepreorder.com.
