Marvel Studios has released a teaser trailer for their highly anticipated new film, Black Panther. The film follows T’Challa, now the King of Wakanda, as he returns home to take his rightful place as king. As secretive and notoriously isolationist as Wakanda has been, this new trailer offers viewers a glimpse into the technologically advanced African nation.

The trailer opens with a captured Ulysses Klaw schooling Everett K. Ross on how little the world knows about the mysterious country. Following some ominous laughter from Klaw, the trailer begins to set up some of Black Panther’s larger plot elements, including the return of a powerful old enemy that puts T’Challa’s mettle as king, and Black Panther, to the test.

Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay co-written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole. It stars Chadwick Boseman in the title role, along with Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.

Black Panther is scheduled to premiere on February 16, 2018.
