Actor Jay Baruchel, known for How To Train Your Dragon, Man Seeking Woman, and She’s Out of My League, has just been named the new Chief Creative Officer of Chapterhouse Comics. This news arrives as part of a larger deal where Baruchel is now an investor and co-owner in the Canadian publisher run by CEO and founder Fadi Hakim.

“What started with a conversation about bringing Captain Canuck to the big screen very quickly evolved into my asking Fadi if I could invest in Chapterhouse. As both a patriot, and a lifelong nerd, the breadth of vision and daring that Chapterhouse had already displayed in their two short years was nothing short of staggering,” said Baruchel.

Since its inception in 2015, Chapterhouse Comics established itself with the acquisition of the long-running Canadian superhero Captain Canuck. Chapterhouse, self-described as “Canada’s largest comic book publisher,” features Canadian patriotism across many of its titles.

“This was the kind of thing we’d talk and dream about as Canadian kids – a home grown Canadian extended comic book universe. This was both an adventure and holy mission, and one I knew I had to be a part of. We want to be the home for superheroes the big publishers don’t have the balls to create,” added Baruchel.

The Canadian actor is also known for Knocked Up, Tropic Thunder, This Is The End, and Fanboys.

Earlier this year, Baruchel co-wrote the Free Comic Book Day one-shot Captain Canuck: Year One with regular series writer Kalman Andrasofszky, Chapterhouse’s Editor-In-Chief. The company also just entered a larger distribution partnership with Diamond Comics Distributors and its Diamond Books division. They plan to feature their work in retailers such as Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Borders, Chapters, and more.
