The two MUTO that destroyed Las Vegas, Honolulu, and San Francisco in 2014’s Godzilla don’t have anything on the King of Monsters latest opponents. The upcoming sequel will see Godzilla face off against his three most iconic foes from the Toho movies: Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah.

In the post-credit scene of Kong: Skull Island, the addition of the three kaiju to the legendary Godzilla series was teased. Now, a press release confirmed that all three are going to battle it out during the second Godzilla. The official synopsis reads: “The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

Monarch – the agency that explored Skull Island and tried to keep the MUTOs in Godzilla under wraps – will play a major role in the sequel. Both Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins will reprise their roles as Monarch scientists. Additional cast includes Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), and Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley). Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown will also make her film debut in the upcoming sequel.

Godzilla 2 is slated for release in March 2019.
