BOOM! Studios, DeVito Artworks LLC, and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products have teamed up to release an all-new comic book series – Kong on the Planet of the Apes. At the helm of this unprecedented crossover is writer Ryan Ferrier (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and artist Carlos Magno (Kong of Skull Island). This six-issue series that promises to take pop culture’s best known primates on an epic story.

After the events of the 1968 Planet of the Apes film, Dr. Zaius and General Ursus lead a small group of soldiers to the Forbidden Zone. While hoping to find and destroy evidence of Taylor’s time among them, they shockingly discover a Kong. These soldiers must now travel to Skull Island to discover the truth behind Kong. But can they survive the deadliest journey of their lives?

“There’s such a deep mythology to both properties, especially if you consider all of the amazing Kong and Apes comics that have come out in recent years. With this series, we’ve found a coherent, meaningful way of having these two worlds and their legacies fold into each other. The implications of the Ape civilization discovering the Kong world are huge, and that’s certainly on the forefront of the series,” shared Ferrier.

BOOM! Studios’ Kong comics are based on Joe DeVito’s Skull Island and Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong. Recently, the publisher released a 12-issue series, Kong of Skull Island, written by James Asmus (All-New Inhumans) and illustrated by Carlos Magno. Meanwhile, the publisher has been publishing Planet of the Apes comics since 2011 – the longest-running comic book adaptation of the property. Currently in production is a four-issue series, War for the Planet of the Apes, led by David F. Walker (Luke Cage) and Jonas Scharf (Warlords of Appalachia).

Kong on the Planet of the Apes #1 will feature covers by Mike Huddleston (The Coffin), series artist Magno, and movie poster artist Hans Woody. Print copies of this debut issue will be available for sale in November 2017. Digital copies will also be available from comiXology, Kindle, iTunes, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
