If you thought it was safe to go back to the swamp, you were wrong! Writer-director Adam Green has surprised horror fans by announcing that he secretly filmed a fourth movie in his Hatchet franchise, titled Victor Crowley.

It’s been 10 years since the Hatchet franchise began in 2007 (followed by sequels in 2010 and 2013) when Victor Crowley started his murder spree, killing dozens of people in the swamps of New Orleans. Now, Green is presenting the first teaser trailer for Victor Crowley, the fourth installment.

Parry Shen, who comically played three different characters in the trilogy, is back as Andrew Yong. He is the lone survivor and has spent 10 years telling people that Crowley a local legend/boogeyman killed nearly 50 people. But, his claims are met largely by skepticism and he ends up back in those woods where Crowley is resurrected to wreak havoc once again. Popular horror actor Kane Hodder is reprising his role as Crowley.

“The only survivor that was ever found was Parry Shen’s character Andrew Yong,” Green said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Now, ten years, later, he’s kind of become a little bit of a celebrity. At one point he’s compared to ‘the OJ Simpson of Honey Island Swamp’ because most people do not buy his story, but he got off because there was no evidence that he had done it. So, some people love him, a lot of people hate him, and now he’s written a book, which he is promoting on the tenth anniversary of the events of 2007. He is convinced to do one final interview back at the scene of the massacre, where he has never returned. Simultaneously to him going back there with this camera crew, that’s going to interview him, there is something else happening that brings back a little certain somebody.”

The news was revealed on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinema. The movie will be screened at FrightFest in London this weekend, then in October, Green will host the “Victor Crowley Road Show” in which he’ll introduce the film at one-night screenings around the U.S. The full screening schedule hasn’t been revealed yet.

Hodder and Shen are joined by Laura Ortiz (The Hills Have Eyes), Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie), and Brian Quinn (Impractical Jokers).
