On Friday the 13th, 20th Century Fox dropped the first trailer for the spinoff, The New Mutants. Unlike the superhero action-adventure fans may be used to when it comes to the X-Men, this new film takes the franchise to a much darker place.

Set to an eerie cover of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall,” this trailer offers a glimpse into the lives of five young mutants in the confines of a spooky institution. A far cry from Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters. The trailer’s creep factor and unsettling tone falls in line with director Josh Boone’s (The Fault in Our Stars) promise of The New Mutants being “a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe.”

The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) as Magick, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot, Blu Hunt (The Originals) as Mirage, and Alice Braga (Angélica) as Cecilia Reyes.

Produced by Simon Kinberg, Karen Rosenfelt, and Lauren Shuler Donner, The New Mutants will arrive in theaters on April 13, 2018.
