Quantcast

Comics@Columbia is partnering with the Columbia School of Journalism and the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies to bring together four outstanding and outspoken Jewish cartoonists to discuss the confluence of religion, comic art, and the First Amendment.

Panelists include cartoonists Eli Valley (Diaspora Boy: Comics on Crisis in America and Israel), Miriam Libicki (IDF memoir jobnik!), Ben Katchor (Julius Knipl), and Liana Finck (A Bintel Brief: Love and Longing in Old New York). Victor Navasky (The Art of Controversy: Political Cartoons and Their Enduring Power) will moderate what is sure to be a lively discussion.

The “I Was Only Kidding!” panel is taking place on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 7 PM in the Pulitzer Hall (Journalism Building). Pulitzer Hall can be accessed by entering the main Columbia gates at 116th Street and Broadway.

This event is free and open to the public, although registration is recommended, due to limited seating. Interested attendees can RSVP to iijs@columbia.edu.
