In response to the “indefinite postponement” of Universal FanCon, a group of fans have decided to hold a spur of the moment pop-up convention in Baltimore, Maryland, called WICOMICON. The convention is set to be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10 AM to 7 PM at 1100 Wicomico Street in Baltimore.

It is being headed by The Nerds of Color, Black Heroes Matter, New Release Wednesday, and Theblerdgurl in association with Andre Robinson of Carbon-Fibre Media and Elijah Kelley of the Be A Boss App.

According to the statement sent out by the show, WICOMICON will feature comic guests, exhibitors, panels, cosplay contests, and more.

“We knew there were a lot of people in and out of Baltimore hurting when FanCon was postponed, and we wanted to provide some relief,” said Keith Chow, founder of Hard NOC Media and The Nerds of Color. “Fortunately, we were able to come together as a community and find a place to celebrate the things we love in the city we love.”

Tickets will be just $10 at the door, with half-price tickets available for those who had purchased a badge for FanCon. Children under 12 get in free.
