Continuing its uptrend in dramatic fashion, Fantastic Four #1, which ushered in the Marvel era and introduced the superhero team, soared to a record sale. On Wednesday, May 23, 2018, a copy graded CBCS 8.5 sold for $121,259 in the comic book session of ComicLink’s most recent Featured Auction. The previous record at the grade was a CGC-certified example that ComicLink sold in 2011 for $83,022, according to ComicLink CEO Josh Nathanson.

The same auction also featured copies of Fantastic Four #48 with the first appearance of Silver Surfer and Galactus cameo and #49 containing the first full appearance of Galactus and first cover appearance of both. Their sales show price increases as a #48 CGC 9.6 realized $10,080 and a #49 CGC 9.4 CVA Exceptional reached $7,277.
