Following the smash success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which made over $950 million worldwide, Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to announce that the team is returning for another installment. Along with Johnson, the actor confirmed core cast members Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillian, and Nick Jonas will reprise their roles.

Also returning to pen the sequel are Welcome to the Jungle writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, with Jake Kasdan directing once again. As part of his Seven Bucks Production company Johnson will serve as executive producer alongside Matt Tolmach, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia.

Along with confirming the cast and producers, Johnson shared a “spoiler” for the film with his 108 million followers. “And sorry for the spoiler but @kevinhart4real dies in the first 15 seconds of the movie, to what I’m assuming will be a HUGE standing ovation from the audience and the cast.”

Welcome to the Jungle, Sony Picture’s highest-earning domestic release, is a sequel/reboot to the 1995 original starring Robin Williams. It stars Johnson as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Black as Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Hart as Franklin Moose Finbar, Jonas as Seaplane McDonough, and Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse.

According to Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman, Jumanji 3 is set to open in theaters in December 2019, right around the same time as Star Wars: Episode IX.
