What defines the difference between a graphic novel and an illustrated book? It’s been a matter of debate for years. Is a 200-page comic story a graphic novel or a long comic book and is a book that’s totally filled with illustrations a graphic novel or a picture book?

These are questions that will be up for discussion at Comic-Con International during the panel “Graphic Novel or Illustrated Book: You Make the Call!” Creators Mark Schultz (Storms at Sea), Armand Baltazar (Timeless), and Mark Wheatley (Doctor Cthulittle) – all of whom have books filled with illustrations to their credit – will discuss the topic with Karen Green (Columbia University) and J.C. Vaughn (Gemstone Publishing’s Vice-President of Publishing).

The panel will take place on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6 PM to 7 PM in room 25ABC. More information can be found on the Comic-Con website.
