According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars alum Billy Dee Williams will reportedly be stepping back into the suave gambling shoes of Lando Calrissian for Star Wars: Episode IX.

While many fans have expressed their desire to see Williams return to a galaxy far, far away, his recent comic con cancelation due to “conflict with a movie schedule,” sent the internet abuzz. Especially considering the next Star Wars installment from Lucasfilm is set to begin production later this summer.

Williams made his debut into the Star Wars film franchise in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, before reprising his role for 1983’s Return of the Jedi. In recent years, Williams has returned to the role of Calrissian for various cartoon series and video games. One of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe, Donald Glover’s turn as a younger Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story brought even more acclaim to the debonair smuggler.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, Episode IX will reunite Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver, with newcomers such as Keri Russell.

The film is set to open December 20, 2019.
