Henry Cavill is allegedly out as the Man of Steel for the DC Extended Universe of films, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. Cavill is parting ways with Warner Bros. according to the website’s sources after talks started to break down regarding a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! movie.

Apparently this has occurred due to a combination of scheduling conflicts (due to Cavill’s other film projects, such as The Witcher for Netflix) as well as how Warner Bros. has shifted its focus to a Supergirl film. One of the news sources from inside the studio has also suggested that Warner Bros. is trying to change its overall strategy, because “there’s a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn’t work.”

Cavill has portrayed Superman in three different films for the DCEU: Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League.

Currently, the DCEU film universe is slated to have multiple films coming out through the end of next year, starting with Aquaman in December 2018, Shazam! in April 2019, and Wonder Woman 1984 in November 2019.
