Filming for the series finale of Gotham is currently underway in New York City. Ahead of the premiere of the fifth and final season of the Fox Batman prequel series, many set pictures have given viewers a taste of what to expect from the final chapter. Images of Robin Lord Taylor’s Oswald Cobblepot and Cory Michael Smith’s Edward Nigma have surfaced showing the villains suited up in classic comic book costumes for the Penguin and Riddler, respectively. 

While Nigma has donned a green suit before as the Riddler, this new images sees the suit outfitted with his signature question marks. Cobblepot’s transformation into the Penguin is also made complete with a shiny purple jacket, top hat and monocle. Interestingly, one of the set photos even shows the baddies tied together, back-to-back. 

The final season of Gotham, subtitled “Legend of the Dark Knight,” is largely inspired by the No Man’s Land comic storyline. Not only will this season see crime running rampant and gangs fighting for control, it will also feature Bruce Wayne’s final transformation into Batman. 

Gotham stars David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth.

It is scheduled to return on Fox on January 3, 2019.
