A new Captain Marvel trailer premiered during Monday Night Football, establishing more story and teasing more action than we’ve seen so far.

The trailer opens with a very brief synopsis of the Kree and the Skrulls, then we see Captain Marvel infused with Kree abilities, which muddles her memories of the past. With Nick Fury as her copilot, she sets out to learn more about her history and its significance on the current situation. The trailer closes with some very cool shots that depict just what Captain Marvel can do. Oh, and her lovable sidekick cat (named Goose in the movie), makes an appearance.

Set in the ’90s, Captain Marvel occurs well before the events in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, which could mean fewer restrictions on the storyline. We’ll get to see young Nick Fury and Agent Coulson – and perhaps they’ll sneak a 25-year-old Tony Stark in somewhere. Hopefully the movie will answer where Captain Marvel has been during attacks by Loki, Ultron, and Thanos, given that she’s one of the most powerful heroes in the universe.

The movie is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (co-directors of It’s Kind of a Funny Story) and will hit theaters on March 8, 2019. Brie Larson stars as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, with Gemma Chan, Mckenna Grace, Ben Mendelsohn, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening, and Clark Gregg.
