Quantcast

As revealed via The Hollywood Reporter, Doctor Strange co-writer and director Scott Derrickson has secured a deal to conjure up a sequel for the Sorcerer Supreme. No writer has been named for the project as of yet.

Following his debut in 2016, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange made appearances in Thor: Ragnarok before dematerializing in the $2 billion grossing Avenger: Infinity War. Along with Cumberbatch reprising his role for the sequel, Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams will also return as Wong and Christine Palmer, respectively.

The tentative plan for the film is to finalize the script in 2019, being production in 2020 and hit theaters in May 2021.

Prior to casting his directorial spell on the $677.7 million grossing Doctor Strange, Derrickson lended his talents to 2005’s The Exorcism of Emily Rose and 2012’s Sinister. More recently, he directed the pilot for TNT’s adaptation of Snowpiercer.
