The Free Comic Book Day Committee has selected the 12 Gold Sponsor comic book titles for one of the comic book industrys most anticipated annual event: Free Comic Book Day! FCBD happens each year on the first Saturday in May at participating comic book shops worldwide, with next years event taking place on May 4, 2019. 

The titles were curated by over 20 comic shop retailers who make up the FCBD Selection Committee and feature something for everyone: from superheroes, to popular films and television shows, to beloved franchises, and all-ages favorites. The Gold Sponsor titles come from publishers, including DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, Archie Comics, BOOM! Studios, TOKYOPOP, Valiant Entertainment, Vault Comics, Titan Comics, and VIZ Media.

The Gold Sponsor titles consist of Riverdale: Season Three Special (Archie Comics), Welcome to the Whedonverse (BOOM! Studios), Stranger Things & Black Hammer (Dark Horse), DC Comics Top Secret Gold Book (DC), TMNT: Casualty of War (IDW), Deadly Class: Killer Set (Image), The Avengers (Marvel), Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Year (Titan), Disney Manga: Descendants-Dizzy’s New Fortune (TOKYOPOP), Valiant: Bloodshot FCBD Special (Valiant), Interceptor #1 (Vault), and Pokemon I Choose You & Pokemon Adventures (Viz Media). 

“The quality of titles from publisher applicants made for some tough choices,” said Ashton Greenwood, FCBD spokesperson. “It’s a solid indicator that Free Comic Book Day is truly the greatest event to showcase the best and brightest titles you can find in comic book shops. We can’t wait to once again share the FCBD experience with fans and everyone who loves comic books.”

Along with the 12 Gold Sponsor comic book titles, the full line-up will also consist of 39 additional FCBD Silver Sponsor titles.
