One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray had joined season three of The CW’s Riverdale in a major recurring role. Murray will portray Edgar Evernever, the leader of the cult-like Farm and the source of much mystery throughout the third season.

Having recently purchased the former residence of the Sisters of Quiet Mercy, Evernever arrives in Riverdale to further spread his teachings. Described as a “enigmatic leader” and a “charming and handsome guru,” his arrival in Riverdale could spell disaster for the once wholesome town.

Since the season three opener, the Farm has severely divided the Cooper household with Betty remaining firmly opposed as her mom Alice and sister Polly’s obsession continued to grow.

Murray is best known for his starring role as Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill, along with recurring roles on Dawson’s Creek and Gilmore Girls. More recently, he has starred in Star, Sun Records, Texas Rising, and had a major role in ABC’s Agent Carter as S.S.R. Agent Jack Thompson.

Airing Wednesdays at 8 PM ET on The CW, Riverdale stars K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Miller, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, and Luke Perry.
