Beginning with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp, Mondo Music is bringing the sweet sounds of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to turntables with special vinyl releases. Through a partnership with Marvel Music and Hollywood records, Mondo will brings its unique visual style to every Marvel Studios film.
Kicking off Wednesday, April 24, 2019, MondoTees.com will release the Ant-Man and The Wasp 2 x 180 Gram Colored Vinyl album for $35. The two-disc red and yellow album set will be housed in collectible artwork by Phantom City Creative with a soundtrack that includes 14 previously unreleased bonus tracks!
“Over the last 10 years, Marvel Studios has assembled such an incredible array of composers to craft new music for their ever-expanding universe of characters... some who have already had classic themes in past incarnations, and some who never had a presence on the big screen. The roster is outrageous on paper: everyone from Alan Silvestri and Michael Giacchino, to Mark Mothersbaugh and Ludwig Goransson, to, most recently, Pinar Toprak who did amazing work on Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel. We are honored to start our MCU soundtrack series with Ant-Man and The Wasp (one of our favorite superhero themes of the last few years for us was Christophe Beck’s earworm theme for Ant-Man) and cannot wait to see what comes next!” said Mondo Music Record Label Manager Mo Shafeek.
“I had previously created a theme for Ant-Man in the odd meter of seven, which means seven beats per bar. I created a theme for the Wasp which was in the odd meter of five. Most songs and scores are written in the more traditional 4/4 or 3/4 meters. But, when more beats are added to create a complex meter, it brings a dynamic, rhythmic effect to the music which fits in with the multifaceted character of these two superheroes,” composer Christophe Beck, speaking on his specific approach for each of the main characters.
Disc one, side A features the hits “It Ain’t Over till the Wasp Lady Stings,” “Prologue,” “Ghost in the Machine,” “World’s Greatest Grandma,” “A Little Nudge,” “Feds and Ava’s Story.” Side B includes “Wings & Blasters,” “Utmost Ghost,” “Tracker Swarm,” “Cautious as a Hurricane,” “Misdirection,” “Quantum Leap,” “I Shrink, Therefore I Am,” “Partners,” and “Windshield Wipeout.”
Disc two, side A features “Hot Wheels,” “Revivification,” “A Flock of Seagulls,” “San Francisco Giant,” “Ghost = Toast,” “Reduce Yourself,” “Quit Screwing Around,” “Arthropodie,” and “Baba Yaga Lullaby” performed by David Dastmalchian.
