3 Rivers Comicon continues its mission to “put the comic back in comicon” for a 4th year, this time in a new home, the old Macy’s at Pittsburgh’s Waterfront district in Pennsylvania on May 11-12, 2019.
Vendors from all over the country are attending 3 Rivers Comicon to showcase a selection of comic books, toys, and more. Over 100 artists and creators are also attending to sign autographs and display their works, as well as several publishers. 3 Rivers Comicon will feature loads of attractions, including an adult cosplay contest on Saturday at 4 PM, and one for the children on Sunday at 2 PM. Several artists will be offering free autographed comics, pictures will be offered with the 1966 Batboat, gaming events and an art auction will be held all weekend, and every attendee will receive a free graphic novel.
A custom beer, Mercy Sparx Sinful Stout crafted by Shubrew in Harmony, will be offered at the beer release party on Saturday to VIP ticket holders. This bash will offer samples of all four years worth of beers made exclusively for 3 Rivers Comicon and will feature food from Primanti Bros. Attendees will get two cans to take home and Mercy Sparx creator Josh Blaylock will be on-hand to autograph them.
Since the convention falls on Mother’s Day weekend, every attendee will receive an exclusive variant cover of Hope #1, featuring the first ever Mother’s Day themed cover. Writer Dirk Manning and artist K. Lynn Smith will be on hand to autograph them. In addition, moms attending on Sunday, will receive a special flower made from comic books, crafted by the promoter and owner Todd McDevitt’s own mother, Diane.
“My mom has always been my biggest supporter through my 33 years of this crazy business,” said McDevitt. “When I asked for her help with this concept, she jumped right on board!”
