The end is only the beginning. CBS All Access has dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series, Star Trek: Picard. This show sees Sir Patrick Stewart reprise his popular role as Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation as he enters the next chapter of his life.

The brief clip hints at Picard’s presumed retirement from Starfleet, having left for some mysterious reason. “What did that cost you? Your faith? Your faith in us? Your faith in yourself? Tell us why did you leave Starfleet admiral,” inquires the voiceover. Most of the teaser features shots of the Picard family vineyard in France, where he retired in the final episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation

While many details on the series have been kept under wraps, CBS All Access has confirmed the casting of Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway as series regulars.

Alex Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, James Duff, Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers. Aaron Baiers serves as co-executive producer with Kirsten Beyer as supervising producer and Hanelle Culpepper directing the first two episodes.

Star Trek: Picard is set to debut later this year on CBS All Access with a first season run of 10 episodes.
