Hake’s Auctions next premier auction, packed with a wide range of material, will soon be open for bidding. Collectors of any focus will find desirable items to procure, once Auction #227 goes online on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. A total of 2,047 lots will be open for bidding until Wednesday and Thursday, July 10-11.

Original comic art will see plenty of action, especially for the exciting, fresh to market, X-Men #95 title splash page original art by Dave Cockrum from this key issue. Items from the Van Pelt Collection of Peanuts daily strip original art and a Warlord of Mars Attacks #2 original cover painting by Greg Hildebrandt will cross the auction block. An interesting Disneyana art piece is the Donald Duck “Silly Symphony – Don Donald” Good Housekeeping original page art by Tom Wood.

The comic book section is stacked with nearly 1,000 lots, over 200 of which are third party certified. A few keys found in the comics are Green Lantern #1 CGC 7.0 and Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 5.0.

Star Wars collectibles have become an important element in Hake’s Auctions, and this time around, they offer nearly 200 pieces, including plenty of highly sought figures. Hake’s consigned another Boba Fett rocket-firing (L-slot) prototype AFA 85, one of the most valuable Star Wars figures. Other rarities include the Meccano Star Wars Jawa 12-back (vinyl cape) AFA 80+ and a Return of the Jedi Han Solo sample card with Han in trench coat AFA 80+.

Historical memorabilia includes the large Fillmore and Donelson “Put None But Americans on Guard” 1856 two-sided parade banner and a Lincoln 1860 campaign ambrotype by George Clark. Other significant historical pieces are the Cox – Roosevelt highly prized 1920 jugate postcard and classic World War I Uncle Sam “I Want You for U.S. Army” linen-backed recruitment poster.

With baseball in full swing, now is a good time to collect some rarities of the hobby. Hake’s is offering a 1925-1926 Cuban League Havana Baseball Club RPPC with hall of famers Martin Dihigo and Jud Wilson and a historic 1935 Negro League Baseball broadside picturing 15 hall of fame members.

Movie and concert posters in this auction depict great graphics on important posters for each hobby. In the movie section, Hake’s is selling an Adventures of Captain Marvel linen-backed six-sheet and The Day the Earth Stood Still movie theater standee. The music memorabilia includes the Family Dog “Tribal Stomp” original printing 1966 FD-1 Jefferson Airplane and Big Brother poster and a rare Janis Joplin 1969 Ann Arbor, Michigan concert poster.
