During the Star Trek Universe panel at Comic-Con: International, CBS All Access dropped a new trailer for the upcoming Star Trek: Picard series. The Star Trek spinoff series picks up with Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard, decades after his adventures in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Set in the wake of Romulus’ destruction, the series picks up with the former captain of the Enterprise after his retirement from Starfleet. An older, traumatized Picard finds himself thrust back into the action and left building a new team to combat a familiar threat…

In a delightful twist, the trailer sees Picard recruiting well-known faces from Voyager and The Next Generation: Seven of Nine, Data, and Hugh the Borg. Jeri Ryan, Brent Spiner, and Jonathan Del Arco are all reprising their roles. New characters joining the fleet include Isa Briones as Dahj, Santiago Cabrera as Cristobal “Chris” Rios, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker, Alison Pill as Dr. Agnes Jurati, Harry Treadaway as Narek, and Evan Evagora as Elnor.

At the panel, showrunner Michael Chabon also confirmed that Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will reprise their roles as Will Riker and Deanna Troi for the new streaming series. The first two episodes of the series are directed by Hanelle Culpepper, with Frakes directing the third and fourth episodes.

Star Trek: Picard hits CBS All Access in early 2020.
