The Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards that celebrates the creativity, skill, and fun of comics has named the 2024 jury. The comics industry publishers, journalists, and creators selected for the jury are Alan Gill, Robert Greenberger, Jamal Igle, Sam Maggs, and Annie Wu.

Gill is the founder of Ultimate Comics (a five-store chain) and the owner and operator of NCComicon.

Greenberger created Comics Scene, the first nationally distributed magazine focused on comics, strips, and animation. He was a Manager-Editorial Operations at DC, a producer at Gist Communications, and Director-Publishing Operations at Marvel. He returned to DC as Senior Editor-Collected Editions, then was Managing Editor of Weekly World News. He helped revitalize Famous Monsters of Filmland, served as News Editor at ComicMix.com, and cofounded Crazy 8 Press.

Igle is the creator of Molly Danger and co-creator of The Wrong Earth. He has been a series artist on Firestorm the Nuclear Man, Nightwing, Tangent: Superman’s Reign, Superman, Supergirl, Zatanna, Noble Causes, and New Warriors. His art can be seen in G.I. Joe, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Green Lantern, as well as in The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas and Race Against Time.

Maggs has written the novels Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars and The Unstoppable Wasp: Built on Hope, and wrote for the games Call of Duty: Vanguard and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Her work in comics includes Marvel Action: Captain Marvel, Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins, and Tell No Tales: Pirates of the Southern Seas.

Wu is a writer and artist who cocreated Two Graves and has contributed to Black Canary and Hawkeye. She is currently writing and drawing her creator owned series Dead Guy Fan Club.

“Representation is a critical element of our jury,” Baltimore Comic-Con promoter Marc Nathan said. “Having people who have worked for the Big Two or mid-size publishers or micro-press or self-published, who have worked in different mediums, who have written or created art or edited, who have taught or written about the medium, who have worked as a retailer or with the retailing community, who have different personal backgrounds – these all contribute to what makes for a solid final ballot. We are thrilled to have these individuals working together this year, and look forward to seeing the results of their work!”

The Ringo Awards will be presented on Saturday, September 21, 2024, during the Baltimore Comic-Con.
