On September 20-22, 2024, the Baltimore Comic-Con will hold its 25th anniversary convention. The con is building a large guest list of creators, with the latest additions of Mark Buckingham, Sanford Greene, Mike Hawthorne, Joëlle Jones, Mark Sparacio, and Rich Woodall.

Best known for his work on Vertigo’s Fables, Buckingham started his career in 1990 with Neil Gaiman on Miracleman at Eclipse. He became a mainstay at DC for his work on titles like 2000 AD, Hellblazer, and Shade, the Changing Man. After he took over art duties on Fables, he earned four Eisner Awards for his work.

Greene has been illustrating for comics and related industries for over 18 years, working for publishers like DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, and Image. He helped to shape characters in Power Man and Iron Fist, and worked on Black Panther and Luke Cage. His recent work has included Bitter Root, the action/horror fantasy series set during the Harlem Renaissance.

Hawthorne provided art on a record setting run of Deadpool, as well as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Superman. In addition to comics, he has done storyboard and conceptual art for Epic Games, Marvel, Fox, Illumination, and Universal. Archaia/BOOM! Studios recently published his autobiographical comic Happiness Will Follow.

Jones is an artist and writer who has worked for Marvel, DC, IDW, BOOM! Studios, Vertigo, and Oni Press, as well as The New York Times and fashion designer Prada. She is known for her creator-owned series Lady Killer about a housewife who moonlights as an assassin. Jones’ work has also been seen in Wonder Girl, Batman, Catwoman, Supergirl: Being Super, and Helheim. She is also a founding member of the creator-owned publisher DSTLRY.

Sparacio studied under Will Eisner at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and while still in school, he was hired to paint the movie poster for The Draughtman’s Contract. He worked for Marvel and DC, created covers for Comics Buyer’s Guide and The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, and art for Garbage Pail Kids and other trading card sets. He wrote, drew, and painted the covers on Chelsea Dagger and is currently drawing and painting covers for the second and third volumes. He is also working on Bombshell and TommTomm and Witch Hammer at American Mythology.

Woodall is the co-publisher of Black Caravan, a Scout Comics Imprint. He co-created The Electric Black, Gods of Brutality, Kyrra: Alien Jungle Girl, and provided covers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Ronin, The Powerpuff Girls, and Masters of the Universe.

“What a jam-packed talent pool,” Baltimore Comic-Con show promoter Marc Nathan said. “These creators have touched everything from indie darlings to some of the biggest properties at the Big Two, and everything in between. Their work is fantastic, and we know their fans will be psyched to meet them!”
