An assassin is killing Jedi, and the murders might be strategic moves as part of a bigger agenda in the new trailer for The Acolyte.

The Star Wars series is set 100 years before the prequel trilogy during the High Republic era. It is a period when the Galactic Republic was at the height of its power, expanding throughout the galaxy and seeing scientific innovation. It is also a period when the Jedi were a thriving part of society.

The new trailer for The Acolyte starts with an investigation into the murder of a Jedi, followed by a battle between the assassin (Amandla Stenberg) and a Jedi (Carrie-Anne Moss). Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) seeks to confront the assassin, who happens to be a student that he once trained, in the hope of ending the deaths. But the situation isn’t as simple as a wayward wielder of the Force – it could be a plot to dismantle the Jedi.

The cast includes Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Joonas Suotamo, Dean-Charles Chapman, Charlie Barnett, Manny Jacinto, and Rebecca Henderson. The show’s creator Leslye Headland is acting as the showrunner and executive producer.

The first two episodes of The Acolyte will debut on Disney+ on June 4, 2024.
