It’s the middle of summer, which means that department stores are rolling out a fresh batch of back to school commercials. Drawing on the superhero craze of this summer, Walmart’s new advertisement features a slew of heroic faces. The ad spotlights DC’s Trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, as well as the Power Rangers and Transformers. As they all arrive in time for school with style and confidence, Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again” can be heard in the background.

Production-wise, the effects and costumes look as impressive as the films that have supported the ad’s characters. This success is likely due to director Marc Foster (World War Z) lending his talents.

“It’s rooted in an insight around confidence. What has more confidence than a superhero? If parents can send their kids back to school feeling like that, then they've done their job setting them up for success,” shared Walmart VP-Advertising Chad Fox.
