55 years ago November 16, 1963 The British comics magazine Rover and Wizard results from the merger of The Wizard and The Rover.

55 years ago November 20, 1963 Writer-artist Rian Hughes is born. He also provides design and other art under the name “Device.”

30 years ago November 18, 1988 Disney’s Oliver & Company opens.

20 years ago November 17, 1998 Artist Bill Ward dies at age 79. He was especially known for his “good girl art” on such features as “Torchy,” and he contributed to Cracked and The Adventures of Pussycat.

10 years ago November 17, 2008 Belgian artist Guy Peellaert dies of cancer at age 74. Known for his pop art-style album cover art and posters, he also drew such comics tales as “Les Aventures de Jodelle.”
