Heritage Auctions is gearing up for their August 27-28, 2016 Sports Collectibles Platinum Night Auction, which will be the first to conclude entirely in an online extended bidding format. The auction is anticipated to record the highest sales of any 21st century sports auction when it closes to expectations in excess of $10 million.

"With every world record price we record, the calls from top collectors increase," said Chris Ivy, Director of Heritage Sports Collectibles. "We have literally dozens of six-figure lots on offer as a result."

A number of highly-desired trading cards are figuring into that final number, with several high grade examples involved, including the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle – expected to bring in more than $200,000. The ’52 Mantle is the hottest card in the hobby right now and it continues to trend upwards with every auction cycle.

The auction also includes the estate of the late Ernie Banks. It provides a selection of personal relics including his Hall of Fame induction ring ($100,000+) and his 1958 "Babe Ruth Sultan of Swat Award" Crown (est. $150,000+), plus material from various Baseball World Tours, including one of only two known Herb Pennock game worn jerseys in private hands (est. $60,000+).
