Readers immediately fell in love with Captain America, a gutsy, gleefully aggressive new hero, who wore his allegiance on his sleeve and made his intent powerfully clear by taking aim directly at the mustachioed face of the Fuhrer himself. In those pre-Pearl Harbor days, such an image was simply incendiary, and copies flew off shelves almost immediately, leading to a nearly 75-year run as the preeminent symbol of American heroism.

“The demand for Captain America Comics #1 has grown exponentially over the last few years as the blockbuster movies have introduced the character to a new audience,” Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments for ComicConnect, said. “Records are constantly set and broken.”

With a full slate of Captain America and Avengers movies scheduled for release in the future the demand will only grow ComicConnect said. This copy has participated in a minor restoration regimen which has helped preserve this gem for years to come. “The red, white, and blue of Cap’s uniform are as bright as ever, and the majority of the cover is unblemished,” Reynolds continued. “This is a handsome example of a sought-after Golden Age key, one which will start patriotic hearts a-fluttering as they take a shot at owning one of the more-memorable comic books of all time.”
